Kemah Weekend

This past weekend Emily, Jeremy, and Molly were in town, and they stopped by for a quick visit. It was delightful to see them. We met up with them for an afternoon/evening of fun at the boardwalk in Kemah which included a train ride, sight seeing, dinner at Saltgrass, and some playtime in the fountains.

Meet The Newbie

Meet the newest member of our clan. Tay has been without a pet for months now, and was Jonesing for something. She's always had fond memories of the bird which she had when she was younger. It is also a pet that we can keep out of Aiden's reach. Anyways, meet Holly the Parakeet. We've had her for about 2 weeks now.

A Child's Prayer

Aiden's prayer last night went as follows (edited slightly for grammar):

Please let our friends come over.
Please let us have cup cakes.
Please close Hobby Lobby.

Amen, brotha!

Quick Weatherford/Granbury Trip

On Tuesday we drove up to Weatherford for Mimi's (Tay's grandmother) 90th birthday. Unfortunately, I was so distracted while keeping Aiden from destroying all of the decorations in every one's homes and being semi-behaved at the restaurant that I forgot to get a picture of the birthday lady and her great-grandson. Anyways, the birthday was nice, and low-key. We had a good time seeing everyone.

Before the party, we went to Mimi's to "surprise" her, let her know that we were in town, and to give her some time to see Aiden before everyone met at the restaurant for dinner. She asked why we had come up during the middle of the week, and how that must have been difficult for us. I told her that it wasn't everyday that you have a 90th birthday, and that we wouldn't have missed it. She promptly looked at me, and said to not remind her about her age! We all had a good chuckle at that.

After the birthday party we continued on to Granbury to stay with Nana Randee and Grandad. Ever since Aiden was promised a ride in the boat the next time we went up to see them, it is all that he has talked about (well that, and yucky mushrooms). So as soon as everyone had eaten breakfast the next day, we all braved the wind and low 60 degree weather, and went for a ride in the boat.

Here is a picture of their fun little place right on the lake.

After the boat ride, Aiden took a nap, Tay and Randee went shopping, Allen and I fished for a little bit, and then I went for a nice run while Allen took care of some emails. We finished the day with a nice lunch out, and then headed home. It was a fun trip.

The Last Time??

While we were getting ready to leave yesterday to run our Saturday errands, Aiden snuck into our closet and decided to try on "Mommy's boots". Hilarity ensued.

Now the reason for the title of this blog post is that this could be one of the last times that we have pictures of Aiden wearing a diaper. We're planning on starting potty training in the next couple of week. Wish us luck.

Easter At Great Grandma Carol's

This post is a good week late, so hopefully I will remember most of details. For Easter this year we went to Tay's grandmother's house. She lives outside Corsicana right on Cedar Creek Reservoir in a beautiful home filled with all of the knick-knacks, paintings, pottery, and antiques that she has collected over the years. I think that Aiden heard "DON'T TOUCH" from Tay and I more than he ever thought possible.

We had a marvelous time with her and the Sorensens (Tay's sister, Sheena, Sheena's husband, Tyler, and their son, Kyler). We felt like we were staying in a bed and breakfast considering how well Tay's grandmother cooks. I think that Grandma Carol enjoyed the company, and really liked being able to spend time with her two great grandsons.

The highlight of the trip for the kids was the Easter Egg hunt which we did that Sunday morning. Below are some pictures of Aiden searching for all of the rooster eggs as he has decided to call them!
